Over 30 of St. Philip’s College (SPC) Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts (THCA) students participated in the 42nd annual Cowboy Breakfast on January 24, 2020, in the parking lot of Cowboys Dancehall. Students arrived at 2:30 a.m. to prepare a variety of tacos including bacon, chorizo, sausage, beef and potato and egg.

Over 40,000 San Antonians attend the annual event to take part in the unofficial kickoff for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Proceeds fund scholarships for students in SPC’s THCA Program. The program is recognized as exemplary by both the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the American Culinary Federation.

This year, the Cowboy Breakfast Foundation presented SPC with a donation of $20,000 that will be used to award scholarships to students. Last year’s donation provided scholarships to 10 students for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Those who were unable to attend can still be part of the experience online through the event web page where donations toward scholarship funds are accepted year-round. To donate, click here.
