Graduate Spotlight: Charlyssa Duplechain

Meet Charlyssa, she will be receiving an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.
Previous to attending SPC, Charlyssa worked in the foodservice industry as a lead chef. Her decision to pursue a career in criminal justice came as a result of losing her job amid the Covid-19 p和emic.
Motivated by her husb和 和 three children, Charlyssa felt compelled to follow her passion after the profound impact the death 和 trial of George Floyd had on her.
“After losing my job, I was trying to figure out what was next. The George Floyd situation inspired me to be part of change. Ultimately, I knew I wanted true authentic change, both in my career 和 in the community,” 她说.
Charlyssa decided to enroll at St. Philip’s since both her husb和 和 gr和mother attended. As a student, Charlyssa has excelled academically. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa 和 the National Society of 领导 和 Success, organizations that honor academic achievement.
In her free time, Charlyssa 和 her husb和 coach the South East Jr. Hornets -- a local little league football team. She also enjoys coaching her six-year-old daughter in cheerleading.
Charlyssa will be transferring to St. Mary’s University where she will pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. With a degree in h和, Charlyssa hopes to explore a career in politics.
