Dr. Loston Receives UNCF Excellence in Education Award

St. Philip’s College President, Dr. Adena Williams Loston, received the 2021 UNCF (United Negro College Fund) Excellence in Education Award during UNCF’s annual San Antonio Mayor’s Luncheon on May 12, 2021. The award celebrates individuals who have led the charge in championing a quality education for all. 

UNCF supports students’ education and development through scholarships and other programs, supports and strengthens its 37 member colleges and universities, and advocates for the importance of minority education and college readiness. St. Philip's College is not a member college.

The annual event is attended by corporate partners, religious leaders, and community influencers. The luncheon welcomed the honorable Mayor Ron Nirenberg, city of San Antonio, as the events keynote speaker.

Dr. Loston serves as the 14th President of St. Philip's College. She assumed the reins on March 1, 2007, on the occasion of St. Philip’s 109th anniversary. Dr. Loston is active in professional organizations and associations and has received numerous awards during her career. She was recently named one of the Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders of 2021.
